Aswad Letter to Samir Geagea
Dear Friends and comrades,
First and foremost, I
would like to congratulate you on your wed site that kept us company
during the dark moments....
I am one of your loyal readers,
not a politician at all, only a normal citizen living abroad and
very proud to be Lebanese. Like many others, I long to return to my
home country where my children can have the right to live and grow
free...
As the difference in
opinions is a matter of good health and democracy, I would like to
comment on the article of "Mr. Aswad" entitled " Samir
Geages#2" on your web. As I felt concerned by what was written, I
kindly ask you to publish my "droit de reponse" on your
web site.
As we all know, and to
make a long story short, the LF was a movement created during the
war... Today, in the time of freedom, democracy and peace,
whether we like it or not, the LF has become an institution with both
a hierarchy to respect and a political project.
While some others have
a nostalgia for the past, fortunately, the history is moving forward.
As the LF is concerned, it is to its honor to have been able to
overpass the past and to look forward to the future.
On this line, nobody is
obliged to adhere! For we are in a democracy and everybody has the
opportunity to follow the institution and party that suites his own believes....
Lebanon
is a rich country on that issue and we are proud of it!
With all my respect to
the person of Mr Aswad, I was shocked to read his article that belongs
to the past. Regardless of its content and whether it reflects the
whole truth or not, it is obvious that he is not in harmony with the
head of the LF institution. While he is in his full right to disagree,
the ideas that filtered from his article, and I would like to think
that this was not his intention, only meant to disqualify the
head of the LF institution and to minimize his sacrifices, for some
unknown reasons that only Mr. Aswad knows. If Mr. Aswad thinks
that the political project of the LF does not represent his
vision for the future, no boby oblige him to adhere and I will
be the first to stand by him to chose any other project that suites
his ambitions.
As far as I am
concerned, and like too many others, I have full confidence in
the head of the LF institution and would like to take this opportunity
to send my warmest regards and full support to Dr Samir Geagea
wishing him good continuation in his project that represents all my
ambitions for the Lebanon I always dreamt of while abroad.
"Nastamer Wanabka"
No matter what others think, say, write or do!
Georges
