Ban Ki-moon recommends the extension of the UNIFIL mandate until August 2009

In an interview with the Lebanese daily An Nahar on Friday, the United Nations secretary general’s associate spokesperson in Lebanon, Farhan Haq, said there will be a new resolution to be voted on August 27 concerning the UNIFIL.

According to Haq, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon addressed a letter to the Security Council president on Thursday, “recommending the extension of the UNIFIL mandate until August 31, 2009."
