BEIRUT - UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon insists that armed groups in Lebanon, operating outside State authority are a severe threat to Lebanon’s stability. He added that Hezbollah’s military capacity surpasses that of the Lebanese army. Ban sees this as a direct violation of UN resolutions 1519 and 1701.
In his 8th report on the implementation of resolution 1701, U.N Secretary General demands that the countries of the region respect “immediately and without conditions” the interdiction on smuggling weapons into Lebanese territory. He adds that for the moment, the weapon flow continues to come in Lebanon.
